INNAMORATA - CAPOLIVERI

The romantic creek of Innamorata and its large rocks Gemini are well-known for the crystal-clear water and the wonderful and superlative sunsets. Every year, on 14th July, you can admire a spectacular torchlight procession, which recalls the ancient legend (dated back to 1534) of two lovers: Lorenzo and Maria. 100 persons, dressed in sixteenth century clothes, take part in this popular festival.

The young bride, trying to save her beloved’s life, who was abducted and taken to a sailing-ship by the pirate Barbarossa, threw herself into the water and disappeared among the waves. Only her shawl was found on a rock. Nowadays this rock is called "ciarpa" and the beach "Innamorata". You can get to the beach by car. It’s about 5 km from Capoliveri.
