LE GHIAIE - PORTOFERRAIO

It’s not very far from the port of Portoferraio, just a few minutes by car. The car park is always full, so that it’s very difficult to find a room.
The beach is situated near the centre. Before getting to it, turn left and go through the tree-lined avenue, that leads to this beautiful small white pebble beach.
A nice promenade separates the beach from a small park, where children usually go playing and adults sit in the shade during the summer heat.

When the south-west wind blows and the current takes towards the open sea, you can admire the crystal-clear water and the reflection of the wonderful depths.
The part of sea, that extends to about a nautical mile out to sea (the Scoglietto included) and is protected from 1971, is one of the most beautiful areas of fauna and sea flora of Elba. Obviously fishing is forbidden.
There are many services: bars, restaurants, bathing establishments, hotels. You can get to the beach even by bus.
